JACKALOPE HOTEL - IDENTITY & ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

BRAND IDENTITY AND COLLATERAL, F&B SITE AND VENUE IDENTITIES, CONCEPTUAL SITE NARRATIVE AND EXPERIENTIAL DESIGN, ART CURATION AND COMMISSIONING, ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS AND STYLING, LIGHTING DESIGN, LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION DESIGN, WAYFINDING STRATEGY AND SIGNAGE

Aligning with the vision of a hotelier with a penchant for the avant garde, our brief was to establish the Jackalope brand in Australia and globally, with a strong thematic framework, offering guests an immersive journey through dramatic statements and intimate shared experiences.

In tribute to the transformative nature of the mythical Jackalope creature, part cute, part fierce, and the site’s core business of viticulture, we developed a site narrative based on the concept of Alchemy - a metaphor for winemaking. This narrative is expressed through all areas of the hotel experience.

Each step through the space is a step in the alchemy process, from the distillation theme in Flaggerdoot bar, to the 10,000-suspended glowing amber lightbulb installation depicting fermentation in restaurant, Doot Doot Doot. The narrative further provided the lens for local artists, commissioned to create responses including Emily Floyd, creator of the iconic 7m mythical Jackalope sculpture for the hotel porte-cochère. The resulting brand identities, experiential design, art curation, wayfinding and environmental design seek to transport and inspire.
